I'm having this funny ironic feeling everytime I look at the news. Do the higher ups really uphold their promises when they say, 'people first, performance now'?
I'm definitely in full support of 1Malaysia. The word harmony ties all the different textures and gradients of a painting in one full explosive synchronisation of colours. Exactly what we need to revamp our Malaysia. United we stand, divided we fall.
But I can't help to notice the irony behind 'people first, performance now'. We, as the common citizens of Malaysia, really feel abandoned in the course of this H1N1 pandemic. How long more must we wait before more drastic actions are taken in favour of the public? How many more loved ones are going to be lost before someone realises that death rates are barely just statistics?
We are heavily hit by this health crisis and yet the Merdeka parade must go on? How many thousand lives will be put to risk just to celebrate an event on that large a scale?
Truth be told, I barely even feel the Merdeka spirit with all the 'boom boom bam' in our country. Are we still sitting around doing nothing but enjoying our 53 years of independence?
Oh my, are we 53 already?
